MUERTE O GLORIA - UN TRIBUTO A THE CLASH

Este disco que tienes en las manos es el resultado de la inquietud y la labor de las personas que han querido, humildemente con su esfuerzo, sacar adelante el merecido tributo a una de las bandas más influyentes para el rock and roll vasco. Estamos hablando, por supuesto, de The Clash.


Y es que se cumplen ahora, 30 años desde que su obra capital y más laureada, "London Calling" , viera la luz. Un disco que revolucionó el punk desde dentro, adoptando diferentes estilos y sirviendo de inflexión para el rockerío de entonces y el que llegaría. Eran un anacronismo total, un reflejo de las actitudes de los miembros de la banda. La forma y el momento más claros del punk en transgredir precisamente lo que les ataba al punk, para encontrar formas distintas de decir lo mismo más allá de los tres acordes.


En aquel entonces, los grupos que ahora les dedican este tributo eran niños y algunos siquiera eran un proyecto de vida, pero todos han crecido con su música y todos ellos han encontrado en The Clash un punto en común para dar rienda suelta a sus escarceos a manos de una guitarra .Y ese síntoma de heterogeneidad es lo que el oyente se va a encontrar aquí. Grupos tan dispares como Vomito, Travelling Brothers, Ya te digo, Akatz o Los del Puente Romano no pueden estar equivocados. En este tributo se ha plasmado el mismo espíritu que en aquel London Calling, donde lo mismo te encuentras un poco de punk a cargo de Mentes Enfermas o Mundo Matadero, que algo de reggae, de los mencionados Akatz, un poco de garaje de los Paniks, algo de rock sureño de mano de El jinete Eléctrico, el blues de los Travelling Brothers, y mucho rock and roll con actitud punk.


Distintas sensibilidades para asegurar que el viejo dicho de “hasta aquí hemos llegado” no es cierto, y para hacer bueno el " despegaras hasta donde la rabia, la fuerza y la imaginación puedan dar de sí." " Ahora más que nunca, muerte o gloria!!"

Various Artists - DEATH OR GLORY - A TRIBUTE TO THE CLASH

This record is the culmination a restless work respectfully done by a bunch of stubborn people determined on carrying out with a lot of effort a well deserved tribute to one of the most influential bands on rock‘n’roll. An influence that was/is very much tasted in the Basque Country. Of course we are talking about The Clash.


It is now 30 years since the band’s masterwork “London Calling” album was released. A record that produced from the inside a revolution in punk-rock expanding it to new styles and creating a turning point for punk-rockers of that time and for the ones that were to come. It was a total anachronism, a reflection of the attitudes of each of the members of the band. The height of the punk wave. The Clash transgressed everything that anchored the band to punk-rock to find new ways of saying the same things but far beyond the 3-chord scheme.


At that time the members of the bands that are now paying a tribute to The Clash in this album were mere kids, some of them were not even born. But all of them have grown up with their music which has always been a meeting point to give free rein to their trials with a guitar. And that heterogeneous public admiration is what the listener is going to find in this album. Such a diversity of bands like Vomito, Travelling Brothers, Ya te digo, Akatz or Los del Puente Romano to name a few cannot be wrong. This tribute album embodies the same nature than “London Calling” owned. You can find some straight punk-rock by Mentes Enfermas and Mundo Matadero, some reggae by Akatz, garage-punk by Paniks, some southern rock guided by El Jjinete Eléctrico, a blues approach by Travelling Brothers and a lot of rock’n’roll with punk attitude.


So in what concerns The Clash that’s not all folks. Just take-off and go as far as rage, strength and imagination can bring you. Today more than ever: Death Or Glory!!
